    • Description

Cockburn's, established in 1815 and renowned for its Douro Superior holdings, produces Fine Tawny Port using a blend of wines from both estate vineyards and trusted regional partners. Grapes are primarily sourced from schist-rich soils, hand-harvested, and fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks to maintain aromatic purity and encourage a lighter structure. After fermentation, the young wines are transferred to seasoned oak casks for two to three years of oxidative ageing in Cockburn's traditional Vila Nova de Gaia cellars, developing a classic tawny colour and mellow profile. The final blend combines several recent vintages for balance and consistency of style, and is bottled at 19% abv with a driven cork. The finished port is marked by notes of dried fruit, caramel, and toasted almond, a supple texture and moderate sweetness, showing a fresher, more approachable style than older tawnies. Ready to drink on release or suitable for short-term cellaring.
