Description
Founded in 2002 by Ernesto Catena, son of Nicolás Catena, Ernesto Catena Vineyards champions biodynamic farming and creative blends on high-altitude Mendoza sites. The 2023 Alma Negra M Blend is a signature field blend, primarily Malbec with secret proportions of other varieties, sourced from estate vineyards in the Uco Valley. Grapes are hand-harvested and co-fermented in small stainless steel tanks, with a focus on gentle extraction to preserve purity and complexity. The wine matures in French oak barrels, allowing depth and integration without overshadowing the distinct character of each grape. In the glass, the M Blend displays vibrant aromas of black plum, blueberry, and floral notes, underpinned by spice and subtle earth. The palate is medium to full-bodied, layered with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a persistent, savoury finish, making this wine both intriguing and versatile at the table, suitable for drinking now or short-term cellaring.
