Description
Ramos Pinto's 10-Year-Old Tawny is made entirely from estate-grown fruit at Quinta de Ervamoira in the Douro Superior. Vines are planted on schist soils at 110m altitude, with low yields and high ripeness typical of the site.
The wine is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, and Touriga Franca. Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, and fermented in temperature-controlled tanks with extended skin contact. Fermentation is stopped by fortification with neutral grape spirit.
After vinification, the wine is aged in seasoned 600-650L Portuguese oak casks (toneis) for an average of 10 years in Ramos Pinto’s cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia. This oxidative aging softens tannins and develops notes of dried citrus, fig, and toasted nuts.
Bottled at 20% ABV, this tawny is non-vintage and ready to drink. Best served slightly chilled (14-18ºC). Store upright; consume within 2-3 months of opening.
